Use The Exact Setting When In Google Keyword Tool for SEO Market Research
Hello, I was working on some market research with a co-worker the other day and we were using the google keyword tool. This tool is used by pretty much everyone doing SEO and SEM out there. What I noticed was my workmate was doing research and happened to be using THE BROAD SEARCH OPTION. This option is very bad for getting realistic search data and can be very deceiving when planning your keyword marketing. This brings up the point of using the EXACT SEARCH option on the top right of the google keyword interface. I have been using the EXACT setting for quite some time, and it had just become second nature for me, so I had never mentioned it to the rest of my team. I found that 3 people in the room were not aware of this setting so I figured I would present this to all of you. I remember when I found that setting, and it changed my whole outlook on keyword market planning. So for those already using it, tell others! For those not using it yet, Start Now!
Below I have some images that will illustrate to you the vast difference in results between BROAD and EXACT with the Google Keyword Tool.
Broad Setting Keyword : Los Angeles auto repair
With the broad setting you are fooled into thinking there are 12,100 local searches a month for "Los Angeles auto repair"
Exact Setting Keyword : Los Angeles auto repair
Notice the local search volume for "Los Angeles auto repair" is actually only 320 searches per month. That is a whole lot different from 12,100.
