Google Algorithm Change 2010 May And June - MAYDAY!! MAYDAY!!

The Matt Cutts video in the previous post will help you understand what Google has done in as far as the fact that yes. These are the facts about the change according to Google.

Google made an algorithmic change mainly for long tail keywords in early May

The change that Google made is permanent as far as they can see

This was to re-access how they decide what sites are best fit for long tail keyword searches (keywords mostly 3 words +

Now these are the facts as far as the change, but of course they are not going to tell you any of the factors that have changed. So I did my assessment over a large number of markets and a large number of keywords and these are my conclusions so far.

Domain age is more important then before the change happened for sure

Keywords in the domain seems matter way less then before the change (maybe the end to domaining?)

The amount of links or link power has probably changed some, but I am not able to pinpoint how yet

I noticed the change making a difference still so it's shifting of rankings may not be over

I wish i could tell you even more, but this is where I am at. If you have any input please comment on this post and hopefully we can all get a handle on this together.

My Suggestion For Reaction To MayDay Google Algorithmic Change

Worry a little bit less about buying exact domains IE: "size8golfshoes.com" and maybe see if you can get your hands on one with some age that has had the proper content on it also. Do some heavy SEOing not sure whether it should be black hat, white hat, grey hat or blue hat, but definitely put on that hat and get some links and get them now. Links are the one factor which are still very prevalent as far as i can see. I will update my fellow SEO and SEM brothers and sisters as soon as possible.

Well if you own a number of sites i am sure you have noticed some very drastic changes in the results on Google. This is a May/June 2010 update of the algorithm at google for long tail keywords. So mainly 2+ or maybe 3+ keyword searches will be affected the most. I have noticed this favors larger and older sites, I am seeing many more wiki articles, an other large article and data sites showing up in the top 5 of google for long tail keywords. I am doing some more data collection before I give you my assessment of this May change to the google algorithm, but here is Matt Cutt's explanation (rep for googles quality of search team basically).

Hello, I was working on some market research with a co-worker the other day and we were using the google keyword tool. This tool is used by pretty much everyone doing SEO and SEM out there. What I noticed was my workmate was doing research and happened to be using THE BROAD SEARCH OPTION. This option is very bad for getting realistic search data and can be very deceiving when planning your keyword marketing. This brings up the point of using the EXACT SEARCH option on the top right of the google keyword interface. I have been using the EXACT setting for quite some time, and it had just become second nature for me, so I had never mentioned it to the rest of my team. I found that 3 people in the room were not aware of this setting so I figured I would present this to all of you. I remember when I found that setting, and it changed my whole outlook on keyword market planning. So for those already using it, tell others! For those not using it yet, Start Now!

Below I have some images that will illustrate to you the vast difference in results between BROAD and EXACT with the Google Keyword Tool.

Broad Setting Keyword : Los Angeles auto repair

With the broad setting you are fooled into thinking there are 12,100 local searches a month for "Los Angeles auto repair"

Exact Setting Keyword : Los Angeles auto repair

Notice the local search volume for "Los Angeles auto repair" is actually only 320 searches per month. That is a whole lot different from 12,100.

The era of bookmarking has begun. Every one is bookmarking everything. This is also the trend in the SEO Community with the ability to draw more traffic from bookmarking sites and also receiving some decent links that also help your site get indexed. I feel that bookmarks are most effective when bookmarking a certain post or page of a site. There are many bookmarking sites out there a big chunk of good one's like, Digg, Technorati, Mixx, Stumbleupon, Jumptags and many more. It is nice to bookmark your site on one of these, but it is even better to bookmark your site on all of these.

Onlywire.com

Thanks to a free program called OnlyWire you can now submit a page or post to all of these at once. You do have to go back into Onlywire to confirm a few of the sites, but it is a very great semi-automatic set up. You initially set up all of your accounts to all of the bookmarking sites then you put your password and user names into the only wire setup. After that is all setup you will get a nice little OnlyWire button for your browser (I prefer Firefox) and you will just click it and go through a few blocks of bookmarking info and submit. About 80% of the bookmarks will go through right away and the other 20% you can just go into your Onlywire account at any time and verify them quickly.

Auto bookmarking has done wonders for many of my sites and is a great tool. Have fun auto bookmarking and get that traffic...

They are both really great tools for article submitting. The jetspinner portion is free and lets you spin/re-write automatically as many articles as you like. The JetSubmitter is paid and allows you to submit all of that non-duplicate content to over 600 article directories all over the internet. This helps you gain many one way links and also traffic from your articles on these sites. My recommendation is to play with JetSpinner and get the hang of writing spins. A spin is when you choose different options for words, phrases, sentences, links, or even paragraphs or full on content. They explain this process on their site in much more depth Here. After you have written your article in the spin format they use you can have it create an unlimited number of articles that you can instantly download in a .zip full of separate .txt files containing all of the articles. This is great for more then just article submissions also. I use Jetspinner to create content for sites too. Let's say you are building a nationwide website for auto glass repair and want page for each of 100 most populated cities in the US. Well you will need to make 100 pages of content. If you write one spin in JetSpinner and just put CityName everywhere that you plan to put the name of the city you can create 100 pages from one spin. Then go into the .txt files and just replace all of the CityName instances with the correct City. There you go 100 original pages! I love both of these tools and highly recomend them to all. Have fun spinning, it can be time consuming, but remember one spin equals unlimited articles or content. Click Here To Learn More

JetSpinner For spinning content and creating large amounts of fresh content..

JetSubmitter For submitting the content you have created with jetspinner to over 600 article directories..

Here is a great WordPress plug-in to use for getting your posts indexed over and over again. If you are like me you use the All In One SEO Plug-in and have it set to so google will not index archives, categories and etc. You will want to use this plug-in. This is to avoid duplicate content, which is very good. The only problem your posts, either when updated or after they have gotten some new links will not get re-indexed for a while. The easiest way to make sure your posts get re-indexed is to have an archives page using the WP-Archives plug-in. It is real simple to use, just install the plug-in and then make a new page, and paste the code below into the html field of the page.

If you are like I am you like getting straight to the point. Above I have provided a video about Unique Article Wizard, a link to their site Click Here , and also a link to download the WordPress plugin.

Unique Article Wizard or UAW is great for getting links and also great for setting a blog or blogs on auto pilot. In a nutshell you can do 2 things.

Receive Original Content for Your Blog to put it on autopilot. You can receive original content for you blogs free. UAW has developed a way to do this for almost all blog platforms I have used this with WordPress and Blogger, and it worked great. People on the other end are paying to submit their original articles in different versions to UAW and you essentially pull from those articles. You get content, they get links and everyone wins.

Submit Articles to Be Put On Blogs and Article Directories All Over The Web. This is the back end of Unique Article Wizard. Now this will cost you $67.00 per month. But if you use it the way you should it is really worth 5 times that amount. I would stay as general in topic as possible in your articles that way they get pulled more often also. I won't go to deep into this, to learn more here is the link to UAW's site.

One of the best ways to get your blog/site indexed constantly and also build one way back-links in the meantime is to submit your site to the top RSS FEED RE-Syndication sites. These sites all have good page rank and they can also produce extra traffic for your site just like article marketing would. I would suggest submitting all of your blogs, to all of them to get the best results. Also look for niche one's for your market as they are popping up daily. Some make you register and some just have you submit your blog feed url. Either way they are all worth an will help your overall search engine marketing mix. Have Fun
